Today I created my first project on the Drupal website. Called Integrated Metatags, it allows the exposure of node data in META tags. This kind of functionality is something that my current project at work needs, and I wanted to make sure it was done right (in my mind, anyway). Since I knew that it would never be all that it could without some at-home finessing, I started work on it a little while ago and have finally coded it to a point where I'm satisfied with the functionality and the code.
This release is exciting because I've never done something like this before for such a vast community. I've been a maintainer in the past on projects such as Fruity, and have contributed patches to Drupal core and related projects, but I have never created my own project. I would feel empowered, except for my lack of experience with CVS (I'm a SVN kind of guy myself) and just how long it took to create a release for it. But it's done, and I hope for the best!
All this just in time for the DrupalCon 2008 conference in Boston! I'll be taking off this weekend and can't wait to be a part of something this big. It's going to be a great conference, and my hope is to try and blog about it (although, probably with fewer aspirations in blogging than my last conference).
Here's to a great week, started with a great prior weekend!
